It is a matter of great pleasure to take charge as Director, School of Information Science & Technology, Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology (MAKAUT). Prior to taking up this position I was the Director, Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC), Kolkata and Patna Centres which is one of the major R&D arms of Ministry of Electronics & IT (MeitY), Government of India. School of Information Science & Technology, MAKAUT has a unique combination of experienced and young faculties who are highly motivated to take up emerging frontiers of IT, namely, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, IoT, Blockchain, Robotics, Quantum Computing for offering new courses to the students and pursue advanced R&D in these areas. Also the School is well equipped with laboratories and computing infrastructure appropriate for high-end teaching, learning and research. The school is very proud to have vibrant students who have not only always excelled in respective academic disciplines offered by the School but also emerged victorious in various hackathons and grand challenges. Students passing out of the School have always made MAKAUT proud by securing very good jobs in various industries, R&D organizations and Academic Institutes of repute in our Country and abroad. With such vivacious, spirited and young set of students and faculties, the School of Information Science & Technology certainly is a crucible of innovation and research in our State and the country. We all are geared up to develop the School as one of the major Centres of Excellence and for education, research and consultancy in the area of Information Science & Technology in India.
In line with the vision of the school and to meet the global demand on cutting edge technologies, the School of Information Technology of this University has initiated in-house courses on specialized technologies in its Haringhata Campus. As the current trends indicate, our School has introduced B.Sc , M.Sc, BCA, MCA, PG.Diploma and specialized M.Tech Programs in Geoinformatics, Information security(IS), Data Science(DS), Artificial Intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), Cyber Security(CS). The Department of Information Technology already runs a B.Tech Program in Information Technology since 2001 and M.Tech Program in Information Technology since 2005. The Academic Syllabi have been designed with the inclusion of most advanced and modern concepts in all the engineering disciplines covered by the University making the curriculum highly relevant both nationally and internationally.
